A seafarer died while working onboard the Hong Kong-flagged Cargo Ship, MOL BRAVO.

The incident occurred in the morning of May the 2nd while the vessel was undergoing cargo operations at the Contecon Manzanillo Container Terminal located in Manzanillo, Colima State, Mexico.

The vessel had just arrived at the terminal from Callao, Peru and was undergoing cargo operations before sailing to Tokyo, Japan.

Unfortunately, however, at approximately 06:00 am in the morning a container fell onto a seafarer that had been working on the vessel.

The container, having fallen from a considerable height, crushed the crewmember who according to initial reports, died instantly.

Emergency services arrived at the scene, but there was nothing they could do.

There’s no information at the moment as to the identity of the seafarer, or the circumstances revolving around his untimely death.

Allegedly, the container fell during a poorly executed manoeuvre. However, this has yet to be confirmed by official sources.

The Attorney General’s office was notified of the incident and sent over ministerial staff to gather evidence and confirm what happened.

At approximately 08:00 am in the morning, a medical forensic team boarded the vessel and proceeded to remove the corpse of the seafarer.
