Container ship KEA TRADER, aground on a reef off New Caledonia since July 11, on Nov 13 was reported to break in two. The ship was found total loss, to be scrapped. All fuel was syphoned, containers offloaded, but not all – a number of drifting containers was spotted at around 1600 LT Nov 12 around position 22 00S 168 40E.

Grounding news July 12:
Brand new container ship KEA TRADER in the afternoon July 11 ran aground in position 22 02 S 168 38 E, Durand reef, 135 nm east of Noumea, while en route from Papeete to Noumea. No reports on leak, officials said no leak risk, according to Radio New Zealand. As of 0700 UTC July 12, vessel was still aground. No news on salvage yet.
Container ship KEA TRADER, IMO 9701281, dwt 25000, capacity 2200 TEU, built 2017, flag Malta, manager Columbia Shipmanagement (Deutschland) GmbH.
