Maltese-flagged General Cargo Ship, Klara collided with the Singapore-flagged Bulk Carrier, Posidana during the early morning hours of April 29th.

The incident occurred while the vessels were transiting through the Ghent Terneuzen Canal, near the Sluiskil Bridge, Belgium.

The collision happened shortly after midnight, at approximately 00:35 local time.

We don’t yet know what led to the collision, but both vessels suffered extensive damage as a result.

The Klara received damages on its starboard hull, deck & cargo deck area, and having received extensive breaches started to experience water ingress.

Following the collision, the vessel was taken to the nearby Sluiskil quay where she remains berthed.

There are no details on the extent and nature of damages on the Posidana at this time. After the collision, the vessel was moved to Termeuzen where she remains moored.


Thankfully, there were no injuries reported on either ship as a result of the collision.
