A Filipino seafarer fell overboard while working onboard the Hong Kong-flagged Bulk Carrier, KSL Singapore.

The incident occurred some 8.26 nautical miles southwest of Orchid Island, Taiwan.

It is estimated that the crewman fell overboard at approximately 1:30 pm in the afternoon of August the 24th. Unfortunately, the other seafarers did not take notice until 3:00 am on the morning of the following day.

The crewman has been identified as Errald Danielle C. Caniel, a 23-year old man from the Philippines.

Following his disappearance, the Master proceeded to contact the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In turn, PCG decided to coordinate their efforts with the US Department of Foreign affairs, who in turn contacted the Bahama-flagged Crude Oil Tanker, Houston Voyager, that had been operating in the region.

In order to support the Houston Voyager,  PCG sent out two multi-role response vessels, alongside two vessels from their Hong Kong counterpart, in order to aid in the search & rescue operation for the missing crewmember.

The KSL Singapore had been en-route from Zhanjiang to Jingtang China when the incident occurred.
